Frank Bernard told me about these "awesome" HO scale kits about a year ago. He told me to check them out, cause they were second to none! I finally got to see a small photo of one of Ed's kits in a magazine ad, and it looked good. However, I'm not one to buy stuff that I haven't been able to see in person. Well, at this past 22nd Annual National Narrow Gauge Convention in Warwick, Rhode Island, I finally saw Ed's kits first hand!
Talk about awesome! Frank had it right! These kit's are made from literally the BEST hydrocal castings I have EVER seen. They have ABSOLUTELY no bubbles, and the detail is outstanding. To my surprise, Ed has been making kits for 4 years!?! I had no idea! Well, Ed the secret is out now!
Ed showed me how the walls for his new kit fit together (#8.) Right out of the box, the mortised block walls fit and the seems all but disappear! His craftsmanship is second to none! The tolerances are measured to the 1/1000 of an inch. You can't get better than that!
The other amazing thing I found with Ed's kits are the prices. All of the kits I have listed here are $49.95. That's it! Even the "E. F. Smith & Co." warehouse is $49.95, complete with details!
I know that modelers George Sellios, Earl Smallshaw, Charlie Getz, Art Fahie, Frank Bernard and many others all own kits by Ed! That has to say something right there! George has even been quoted as saying "These are the best hydrocal castings I have ever seen" about Ed's castings for his Cranberry kit #4.
